Another piece of info since revealed, she wasn't even given the keys to the security screens by the real estate people, so had the fire been further advanced she would have been trapped inside a burning house.

I'm working on creating a series of tutorials to show how an entire site goes together using Code Igniter.

http://shawnmccool.com

The tutorials are targetted towards programmers who want to get into PHP MVC development so any feedback would be appreciated.

Well the install process went flawlessly, although I think I may need to help understand the meaning of "less than a minute" as that message was displayed for about 2-3 minutes. The whole process took around 50 minutes, including 2 restarts. To be honest, on my MacBook unibody with 4GB and 2.0GHz C2Duo processor I haven't really noticed any speed differences, although I am not pulling out the timer to compare.

I really like the changes they have made to Expose and Stacks, the latter allowing me to delve into sub-folders without the need to open a finder window. By default Apple's chosen to run the 32-bit kernel, I hear this is to be the norm for all except XServe's until there are sufficient numbers of 64-bit drivers become available.

An interesting change has been Apple's move to describing file sizes in base 10 instead of the computing world's base 2, I guess though this does conform to standard marketing practice these days.

Quicktime X is cool, I like that it isn't that awful aluminium interface, that's so old hat.

Other than that, nothing to report. Stable so far, wonder how long until 10.6.1 is released, usually a few weeks post-release isn't it?

My Windows machine at home certainly boots faster than the work one, what I wouldn't give for the passwords to get in there and rip their shit out. My favourite pet peeve is their Managesoft app, complete piece of shit that often chokes the machine when you don't want it to. I still think by comparison Windows is in need of an overhaul the likes of which Apple made going from Mac OS 9.2 -> Mac OS X (although 10.0 should be avoided!), they need to start from scratch with a new O/S and provide an emulation environment to support current Windows apps, only then can they truly move on with their O/S.

what you have to consider also is what you have running on your startup in windows. More than likely, you are on a domain at your work and there are also startup scripts. My machine at home is 3x faster than the one at work, but they have similar hardware. It is all about the environment my man.

Just a quickie before bed. Installation completed within latest VMWare Fusion on my MacBook using Windows Server 2008 settings with 2gb RAM and 3D support turned on. Unfortunately still no glitzy graphics support but everything works well and is snappy. I am amazed the speed is so good compared to Vista working within same environment in which it was pretty much unusable. Tried downloading free version of AVG Antivirus but it refused to install, not sure whether vmware tools is cause or not. Will try installing on of on Saturday and see how we go, hey!

Well, mighty night. This duck is buggered and back is killing me still after preparing large mailout at work yesterday. :(
