Longing for a break

About me

Bit of photoshop artworkIsn’t it always the hardest thing to do, to write about yourself. Where do you start?

Hi, I’m Bryan Garnett-Law and I’m a webaholic. I have been working in web design and development for over 13 years, gaining an interest in 1996 whilst taking a year off from my Computer Science degree. I spend way too much time on the web, I know this, but it’s a better addiction to have instead of drugs, alcohol, or anything else with a bit of a sting (or headache) to it.

My other interest are reading, walking, photography and art. I enjoy reading books by W. Michael Gear and Kathleen O’Neal Gear, Christian Jacq, the odd Stephen King, and anything remotely sci-fi related. The first 3 authors are also archaeologists and their novels are sort of faction (mixing fact within a fictional story), the Gears write about pre-Colombian North American Indian cultures and are most definitely my favourites. Christian Jacq, a French archaeologist writes about Ancient Egypt, something with which I have always had a fascination since learning about their culture in year 8.

Photography, a more recent hobby of mine, is something I enjoy doing as much as viewing. I recently undertook a UWA Extension program to do with photographic composition presented by Bob Litchfield. I came away having learnt a little more than I’d already known (rule of 3rds), and ended the course being told one of my photos was considered in the top 3 of my class. Whilst friends have often commented on shots I’ve taken it’s another thing when a professional photographer sits there speechless for a time before saying he loves it, that truly made my day.

If you’d like to look at a few of my photos I have them hosted at:

I also have a basic web page at http://www.garnett-law.com. I am working towards expanding this at the moment. If you’re not on broadband you might want to avoid it, it’s image intensive due to a lot of transparent PNGs. Check it out and leave me some feedback if you like it.
