Longing for a break

10.7.3 seems buggy

Apple finally released the latest update to Mac OS X Lion in 10.7.3 the other day, yet for some reason it didn’t show up in Software Update for me, not sure if that is because I have the developer release and not the commercial version everyone else bought via the App Store? Anyway, I went to the Apple Support area and just downloaded the latest version at almost 1GB and later that night (after work) went to install it, got as far as choosing the destination disk for install only to be told a resounding no, none of the disks may be installed upon. GREAT! I then went to the Apple Developers area (probably should have in the first place) and downloaded the Delta version (smaller) at almost 1GB, same thing, refused to allow installation on any disk. So, I returned to the developer site and downloaded the Combo version, SUCCESS, this time I was able to install without fail, never mind I’d lost over 3GB of my monthly quota to get there though.

After installation all seemed to be going well and the following day I took my Mac to work as I do each Friday when I am working in a different building. All was working well until around 3pm that afternoon when the external monitor started experiencing a weird problem, the image disappeared in a pattern (too hard to describe), so I took out the mini DisplayPort connector and re-inserted, and all worked briefly, and then it happened again, I couldn’t get the damned external monitor to behave and was force (*sob*) to work from only the laptop screen. Me thinks that perhaps this release has a few noticeable bugs, this along with those that I’ve heard that downloaded via Software update and were having the CUI problems with apps crashing at launch, so here’s hoping Apple fixes them asap.
