If you are a regular reader of technology news sites you would have heard that Microsoft was going to spend US$300m to counter the successful Apple “I’m a Mac, I’m a PC” ads, and to try and turn around the publics perceptions of Vista as a bullshit o/s. Well Microsoft have kicked off their first shot in this ad campaign featuring comedian Jerry Seinfeld, check it out here.
Slap me fair across the head if I am wrong, but I think the ad sucks. If this is how Microsoft sees competing with Apple then it is little wonder they cant’ achieve good press about their Windows Vista operating system, even if it is better than XP. I like the whitty Apple ads, Jodie & I often have a laugh at what they produce, and therein rests their success, people can connect with the ads.

Yeah, it doesn’t even come close to changing any of the effects the Mac Vs. PC ads have had over the past few years. They are classic commercials and do a really good job of capitalizing on PC users frustrations while feeding the Mac users’ evangelistic fan frenzy. I do hope Gates and Seinfeld make more of these those.
